Il corso in breve

The Master's Degree in Cognitive Sciences and Mind Studies (LM-55) is a two-year programme offering advanced, interdisciplinary training in the study of the mind, the brain, and behaviour, integrating neuroscientific, psychological, philosophical, and technological perspectives.

The programme was established with the aim of training a new generation of scholars and professionals capable of understanding, analysing, and modelling mental processes through an integrated approach that connects cognitive neuroscience, artificial intelligence, robotics, bioengineering, and philosophical inquiry into the mind.

In a rapidly evolving scientific and technological landscape, the study of cognition today requires cross-disciplinary competencies ranging from the analysis of the neurobiological foundations of mental processes — including mechanisms of synaptic plasticity and neuromodulation — to the development of computational models of the mind and intelligent systems. With this in mind, the programme prepares graduates to work in the fields of neuroscientific research, cognitive technologies, and clinical and digital applications of mind science.

The curriculum is distinguished by an interdisciplinary structure organised around three strategic areas:

• clinical neuroscience and neuromodulation, with particular focus on the study of the neural bases of cognition and non-invasive brain stimulation techniques

• artificial intelligence and cognitive robotics, for the modelling of mental processes and the development of intelligent systems inspired by the functioning of the brain

• philosophy of mind and epistemology of cognitive sciences, for the critical analysis of theoretical models of cognition, consciousness, and the interaction between natural and artificial systems
